With Mirth and Laughter

“With Mirth and Laughter,” features music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Heitor Villla-Lobos, Joseph Boulogne Chevalier de St. Georges and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

  • String orchestra version of Beethoven’s final major piece, his String quartet Opus 135 was written when the composer was completely deaf even after his 9thSymphony. Some of the most gorgeous music ever written by this composer, and our full string orchestra gives it a heavenly depth.
  • Riverside Philharmonic Principal Bassoonist Duncan Massey is featured on Villa-Lobo’s Ciranda das sete notas, an expressive piece from a time when much of the music that was being written was cerebral in nature and not focused on the beauty ofmelodies and harmonies.
  • The Overture to the Anonymous Lover by St. George, a piece that we recorded during the pandemic for a YouTube video. This time, come hear it live!
  • Mozart’s 29thSymphony, one of his most famous symphonies, is an early example of the mature style of this short-lived genius.
